GCS is pleased to announce that CW Drill is now able to offer geotechnical services for deep drilling to confirm the suitability of the installation of geoLOGIC and GCS sourced screw piles.

“Christchurch House Lifted on Screw Piles by GCS as Part of Residential Rebuild”

Global Construction Solutions recently coordinated the successful lift of a two-storey gable roof brick veneer home in Christchurch as part of the earthquake rebuild. This was undertaken as a single lift with a total weight of 100 tonnes. The structural steel underpinning bracket and jacking arrangements were fabricated by Canterbury Metal Solutions and the technical expertise for the lift was provided by Grace Repiling. Kevin O’Connor and Associates were the design engineers.

Best Practice Development: Lifting Buildings in Christchurch

Global Construction Solutions and Canterbury Metal Solutions are proud to have been invited by the New Zealand Heavy Haulage Association ( http://www.hha.org.nz/ ) to find a technical solution for its members and provide a means of best practice to the Department of Labour with regard to Lifting Buildings in Christchurch.

This was done as a direct result of extensive product development and research that yielded a proprietary, modular / light weight kit set screw pile solution specifically for New Zealand house movers that can be installed using a conventional bob cat.

Screw Pile Demonstration

GCS Screw Pile Demonstration held on Wednesday 28th September 2011 at Marion College, 126 North Parade, Shirley, Christchurch between 7:15am – 8:00am.

Over 120 engineers, geotechnical experts and managers helping to rebuild Christchurch came to witness a successful Screw Pile installation that highlighted the importance of good design around a robust geotechnical report. Both predicted depth and torque were achieved on a site that had undergone significant liquefaction.

Special thanks to the Catholic Education Office for allowing site access, OPUS International Consultants Ltd for providing supporting geotechnical data, Kevin O’Connor & Associates Ltd for providing a sample foundation design and Maugers Contracting Ltd (Locally approved Installer of the geoLOGIC screw piling solution) for providing installation rig on the day,
